Department: Transitional Housing

Reports To: Program Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $26.22 / hr.

Position Overview:

The Housing Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating the permanent housing search for families residing in shelters. This position is dedicated to coordinating various housing service activities that align with the contractual obligations of WIN and other partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Utilize evidence-based practices (EBP) such as Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) to assist clients in achieving their housing goals.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of housing subsidies and provide families with guidance throughout the application process.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with real estate rental brokers and landlords to ensure families have access to current housing resources.
  • Act as a liaison with brokers and landlords to verify that potential housing options meet WIN's criteria for client readiness.
  • Organize and coordinate WIN-sponsored Housing Fairs and engage in networking events.
  • Facilitate housing workshops that address the unique needs of clients, offering information and resources during their housing search.
  • Conduct group meetings with new families shortly after their arrival to discuss available subsidies and the responsibilities involved in securing permanent housing.
  • Arrange apartment viewings and assist clients with housing applications as needed.
  • Maintain a record of all referrals and provide ongoing follow-up to clients, offering feedback to sources and leads.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and clients to develop effective permanent housing strategies.
  • Advocate for eligible families to access Supportive Housing in partnership with Case Managers.
  • Keep detailed case notes in CARES and ensure all documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Prepare all mandated reports as required.

Qualifications:

  • Alignment with WIN's Mission and Values.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the New York City housing market, housing subsidies, and supportive housing programs.
  • Strong networking abilities to build collaborative relationships with brokers and landlords.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to travel to potential housing sites as necessary.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Outlook.
