About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Benefits Consultant to join our team at Hilb Group. As a Benefits Consultant, you will play a critical role in helping our clients navigate the complexities of employee benefits and providing expert guidance on benefits program design and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Benefits Analysis and Design: Assist Account Executives with the analysis of client and prospect employee plan data, and function as a benefits expert regarding client management and plan design and financials.
  • Client Management: Advise employer groups between employees, working primarily with fully insured accounts as well as some self-insured and hybrid funding accounts.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop annual and 3-5 year strategic plans with clients regarding benefits program, to align with benefit program goals and objectives.
  • Benefits Plan Management: Evaluate and develop employee benefit plan designs in alignment with strategic plan and goals, and manage the preparation and development of pre-renewal, renewal, and stewardship meeting presentations.
  • Renewal and Negotiation: Evaluate renewal, including rating methodology, manage renewal process, and negotiate changes as needed.
  • Benefits Communication: Coordinate the development of open enrollment materials and miscellaneous benefit communication materials with the Communications team.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Assist in client compliance reviews, and coordinate the development and delivery of Summary Plan Descriptions and other compliance-related deliverables with the Compliance team.
  • Healthcare Reform and Regulatory Changes: Evaluate and present solutions to meet healthcare reform and other regulatory changes as needed.
  • Benchmarking and Reporting: Oversee the development of and present benchmarking analysis and reports to clients.
  • Employer Subsidy Strategy: Develop and propose employer subsidy strategy and levels.
  • Claims Data Analysis: Analyze and present client's claims data when available.
  • Wellness Plan Strategy: Develop and implement wellness plan strategy and development.
  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships including RFPs, contracts, and performance metrics, and negotiate rates, plan designs, and contract provisions with vendors.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in Employee Benefits preferred.
  • Analytical and Communication Skills: Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Project Management and Organization: Demonstrated ability to independently organize and perform work activities and to simultaneously handle multiple complex projects.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, primarily with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as Benefit Point.
  • Licensure and Certification: Currently licensed in Life and Health, and CEBS certification a plus.
Benefits
  • Compensation: $90,000-$110,000/yr.
