Job Responsibilities

The Clinical Psychiatrist will engage in the evaluation, assessment, and diagnosis of patients with mental health disorders within the designated facilities. This role involves thorough review and organization of all pertinent information related to the individual, ensuring comprehensive documentation upon admission.

The psychiatrist will conduct a Mental Status Examination and document relevant discussions with the interdisciplinary team.

Utilizing established templates, the psychiatrist will compile a detailed overview of the individual's background, analyze factors leading to their current condition, assess the necessity for psychiatric diagnosis, and evaluate current and past medication effectiveness, including potential side effects and the influence of any physical health issues on mental stability.

The role includes providing diagnostic insights and discussing the impact of psychiatric conditions on community integration. The psychiatrist will deliver both individual and group therapeutic services and ensure that evaluations are documented within the required timeframe. Participation in discharge planning and the provision of a comprehensive discharge summary is also essential. The psychiatrist will offer consultation and guidance on psychiatric treatment to fellow healthcare professionals.

While the majority of psychiatric services are provided during standard hours, the psychiatrist must be prepared to fulfill responsibilities during various shifts, including after-hours needs, in accordance with staffing requirements.



Essential Qualifications

Education:
As mandated by the Maryland State Board of Physicians for medical licensure.

Experience:

As required for board certification in Psychiatry by the American Medical Association or an equivalent board recognized by the Maryland Board of Physicians.


Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have supervisory experience and a background in working with individuals with mental and intellectual disabilities.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Candidates must be board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties or an equivalent board recognized by the Maryland Board of Physicians.
  • Candidates must hold a valid Maryland medical license to practice in accordance with state law. Documentation of current licensure and board certification is required.

Additional Requirements

Employees in this role are subject to substance abuse testing as per state regulations.
