Summary:
The Patient Care Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Patient Care Manager by overseeing the implementation and assessment of the patient care delivery framework and associated nursing practice standards. This position collaborates closely with the nursing leadership team to ensure high-quality patient care while managing the daily operations and evaluation of nursing personnel. The Assistant Manager is accountable for maintaining quality standards, financial performance, employee engagement, and enhancing the patient experience in alignment with the strategic objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the planning, organization, and evaluation of nursing practice standards within the unit.
2. Supervise personnel to ensure optimal patient care through effective resource management.
3. Mentor and coach staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment to achieve high-quality services and employee engagement while valuing diversity.
4. Contribute to the interviewing, disciplinary, and ongoing performance management processes for nursing staff.
5. Reinforce the significance of established training requirements, ensuring all team members meet their training obligations within set timelines.
6. Support the Patient Care Manager in achieving departmental objectives.
7. Provide input for effective financial management of the department to ensure proper resource utilization.
8. Ensure operational and human resources are effectively utilized to support departmental financial goals.
9. Facilitate communication across departments for efficient operations, collaborating with physicians and other leaders to promote open dialogue and positive employee relations.
10. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards through established policies and practices, identifying opportunities for performance improvement and patient safety.
11. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes service excellence, serving as a role model for staff, patients, and families.
12. Take responsibility for personal and professional development, ensuring current knowledge in the field. Collaborate with the Department of Professional Development to create educational programs that enhance staff skills and support professional growth.
13. Encourage staff participation in the shared governance model and actively mentor nurses in understanding this framework.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an advanced nursing degree is required (or completion of either within two years).
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience, including at least one year in a leadership role or demonstrated leadership capabilities. Nursing certification in leadership or a related specialty is preferred. Membership in a healthcare or nursing professional organization is also preferred.
Licensure: A valid RN license in the relevant state is required, along with any necessary certifications based on unit specialties.
