Position Overview: The role involves providing continuous observation and monitoring of designated patients. The primary focus is on ensuring patient safety through the utilization of a video surveillance system, all while working under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals. In instances where video monitoring is not necessary, the individual will function as a Patient Care Technician.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain constant visual observation of assigned patients, utilizing a two-way audio communication device to verbally redirect patients as needed. Promptly alert nursing staff if a patient requires assistance.
  2. Oversee the safety of up to 12 patients through video monitoring, effectively communicating and alerting clinical staff while redirecting any patients at risk of injury.
  3. Deliver appropriate care tailored to each patient's individualized treatment plan as directed by the Registered Nurse (RN).
  4. Engage in necessary handoff communications regarding patient information and behaviors upon arrival to the unit and during shift changes. Coordinate meal breaks with the charge nurse to ensure uninterrupted patient observation.
  5. Provide verbal guidance to patients as required, demonstrating behaviors that align with organizational service excellence standards.
  6. Assume the responsibilities of a Patient Care Technician when video monitoring duties are not in effect.
  7. Adhere to safe work practices and safety regulations, actively participating in departmental safety initiatives.
  8. Seek assistance when a patient poses a potential threat to themselves or others, promptly identifying and reporting any safety hazards to the covering RN or charge nurse.
  9. Fulfill all compliance obligations associated with the position.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent required.

Additional Requirements: Proficient in data entry with a minimum of six months experience as a Patient Care Technician. Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in video monitoring system software. Excellent verbal communication skills in English are essential, along with a commitment to service excellence. Previous experience in an acute care environment and direct patient care is preferred. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Nursing Assistant certification is a plus.
