A degree in Civil Engineering is essential.

As a Structural Project Engineer, you will take charge of the planning and design of moderately intricate projects, collaborating closely with Project Management to ensure the successful achievement of project objectives.

You will also play a vital role in fostering relationships and developing new clientele in the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:
In your capacity as a Structural Project Engineer, you will contribute to our expanding team by executing the following tasks:

Engineering Duties
  • Accountable for the systematic and consistent design across multiple engineering projects, enhancing the overall success of our office and organization.
  • Develop design schematics and specifications, coordinating with other disciplines as necessary, while exercising judgment on work details and making preliminary selections of engineering alternatives.
  • Calculate and prepare planning and design documents, including details and cost estimates for projects based on engineering expertise and familiarity with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Assist the project manager with various management tasks.
  • Oversee graduate engineers assigned to projects.
  • Support the preparation of funding applications and preliminary engineering reports.
  • Stamp or seal work performed and that conducted by those under direct supervision.
  • Assist in developing project scope, schedule, budget reviews, and progress reports as directed by Project Management.
  • Participate in team and project coordination meetings.
  • Engage in the Post Project Review Process with clients and internal team members.
  • Execute 3D CAD design and facilitate effective communication with the CAD Department to produce drawings.
  • Initiate quality control processes for engineering documents produced (calculations, drawings, specifications, and estimates).
  • Assist in updating the Project Management Plan under the guidance of Project Management.
  • Establish professional relationships with clients and contractors, attending client and/or public meetings as requested by Project Management.
  • Act as a catalyst for communication, collaboration, and team building across all technical departments, consistently demonstrating our firm's commitment to team members and clients.
  • Ensure adherence to our standards for superior client management and professional service delivery, as well as technical excellence across all technical departments.
  • Regularly communicate with and proactively advise Project Management and Office Manager of any significant challenges or obstacles on projects.

Marketing & Business Development
  • Engage in marketing and business development activities, including preparing data for proposals and attending meetings and presentations.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for cross-selling to enhance and expand existing client relationships during and after projects.
  • Responsible for cultivating new and existing relationships, including initial client marketing meetings, proposal and budget development, presentations, and negotiation meetings in conjunction with Marketing and Project and Office Management as required.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in recruitment efforts for the office, department, alma mater, and other initiatives.
  • Maintain and enhance professional capabilities through membership and involvement in industry associations and professional organizations, pursuing appropriate continuing education, certifications, and writing and speaking opportunities.
  • Practice mindful awareness of your activities and surroundings, adhering to all company, OSHA, federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines and requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Office Manager.

Experience & Certifications Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Civil Engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience or comparable experience.
  • Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain registration within one year in the relevant states.
  • Proven track record of collaboration with teams of technical professionals on projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to prepare engineering records and write concise technical reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate personal investment in your career.
  • Energetic and adaptable to perform in a fast-paced environment and resolve challenges.
  • Confident and forward-thinking.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with project management delivery process tools, as well as civil design software.

Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements:
The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:
Typically, in an office or mobile office environment with frequent visits to client and project sites. The team member may be required to visit project sites in various weather conditions and extremes if needed. Attendance at client meetings during evenings, as well as occasional overnight travel for out-of-town projects and/or to other offices, may be required.
