Position: Director of Facilities Management

Department: Facility Operations

The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for providing both strategic and operational oversight for all aspects related to the maintenance and engineering of building systems. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Facilities & Sustainability, this role involves developing and executing the operational strategies for the existing facilities and future projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer technical guidance and operational support during the planning, development, and execution phases of construction projects.
  • Formulate, implement, and assess departmental objectives and strategies.
  • Define and execute maintenance and operational strategies for building systems.
  • Evaluate the condition of facilities and systems to ensure compliance with established policies and regulations.
  • Direct and manage maintenance activities in alignment with established guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Supervise staff and contractors to ensure work quality and adherence to departmental standards.
  • Oversee the work order management process, ensuring timely and quality completion of projects.
  • Set departmental priorities based on maintenance needs and management directives.
  • Optimize the use of staff and contractors to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Conduct regular meetings to discuss work priorities and performance metrics.
  • Communicate and clarify work procedures and policies to staff.
  • Manage vendor selection and oversee project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Identify opportunities for facility renovations and system upgrades.
  • Implement quality control measures for maintenance and operational activities.
  • Manage the budget for engineering and maintenance, including forecasting and monitoring expenditures.
  • Evaluate service standards and performance goals to identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee special projects as assigned.
  • Lead the Engineering and Maintenance teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
