Position: Facilities Supervisor - Head Start

Location: Multiple Sites


POSITION SUMMARY

Ensuring the provision of safe and healthy environments that comply with all local, state, and federal regulations is essential for the effective operation of a Head Start program. This role encompasses the comprehensive management of Head Start facilities, ensuring that all locations adhere to necessary licensing requirements and that all documentation is current. Additionally, this position supervises the upkeep and sanitation of facilities, guaranteeing they remain clean, safe, and functional, while collaborating with external contractors and service providers as needed.


The Facilities Supervisor is also tasked with maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment, overseeing distribution to Head Start facilities, and conducting regular health and safety inspections of all sites, including playgrounds. This role leads the Head Start Safety Committee and is responsible for the minor maintenance of transportation vehicles, ensuring they are clean and in safe working order. Compliance with all relevant regulations, including licensing and insurance for drivers, is also a key responsibility.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage Head Start facilities to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  2. Adhere to purchasing protocols for equipment, supplies, and maintenance services.
  3. Develop and implement security and maintenance systems for buildings.
  4. Oversee a storage facility for program supplies and equipment, establishing a distribution system for staff requisitions.
  5. Facilitate a Safety Committee to promote safe and healthy environments at all sites.
  6. Act as the liaison with building maintenance contractors, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
  7. Coordinate the relocation of sites and manage inventory and supplies as needed.
  8. Ensure all facilities meet safety standards and comply with ADA, OSHA, and other regulations.
  9. Be available for emergency situations as required.
  10. Establish a system for regular health and safety inspections of all facilities, addressing any identified issues promptly.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Knowledge of local health and safety regulations, as well as ADA and OSHA standards, is preferred. Successful completion and maintenance of Basic First Aid and CPR certification is necessary.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

At least two years of relevant experience in building maintenance or facilities management, particularly in preschool or Head Start environments, is required. Experience with lease management and contracting is preferred. A background in developing and managing janitorial services in a business or educational setting, along with three years of supervisory experience, is desired.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A valid California driver's license and access to a motor vehicle are required, along with proof of automobile liability insurance. Candidates must meet state health requirements, including passing a physical examination and providing verification of TB clearance upon employment. CPR and Basic First Aid certification must be maintained throughout employment.


Background checks are mandatory, and official transcripts of educational qualifications are required prior to the interview process.
