Position Summary:
The HR Generalist I serves as a primary point of contact for basic HR-related employee inquiries. This role focuses on Benefits and Leave Administration while ensuring accurate maintenance of personnel records in both paper and electronic formats. The individual will assist in various HR functions, including payroll, recruitment, onboarding, and HRIS system upkeep.
Compensation:
The hourly pay for this position ranges from $22.55 to $32.02, depending on the candidate's skills and relevant experience. Eligible candidates may receive healthcare benefits, a 401K plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, vacation and sick leave, educational assistance, and paid holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process transactions related to benefits, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and COBRA.
- Manage and track Leaves of Absence (LOA) related to FMLA and other state-specific regulations, providing guidance to employees throughout the process.
- Maintain and update employee records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Oversee the electronic record-keeping system and ensure compliance with HRIS standards.
- Assist in recruitment efforts, including applicant tracking and generating recruitment reports.
- Participate in cross-training initiatives and document HR/Payroll processes.
- Support the HR team with assigned projects and tasks.
- Respond to inquiries regarding personnel matters in a professional manner.
- Engage in training sessions and achieve required objectives.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Relationships:
This role involves daily communication with supervisors for guidance on personnel policies and procedures, as well as interaction with employees to provide assistance and information.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess an Associate's degree and two years of relevant HR experience or a combination of education and experience. A minimum of one year of experience in human resources is required.
Skills:
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals.
- Proficient in generating routine reports and correspondence.
- Strong mathematical skills for basic calculations and percentage computations.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.
- Competence in handling problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to communicate effectively via various mediums and utilize office equipment such as computers and printers. This role may require prolonged periods at a workstation.
