The Family Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting families and children in navigating local community resources while providing comprehensive case management services for ECEAP/Head Start families. This position is structured for 36 hours per week, following a school year schedule. The compensation for fully qualified candidates is $22.40 per hour, while trainees will receive $21.44 per hour. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday during the day, with no weekend commitments.

*Important: If selected for this position, your background check must be initiated prior to your start date. You will not be permitted to work in a Head Start Classroom or supervise children in an ECEAP classroom until a clear background check is confirmed.

Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate's degree or higher, with at least 30 college quarter credits in Human Development, Family Support, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field. These credits may be part of the degree or in addition to it.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field, along with one year of paid experience delivering social services to children and families.

*A training plan may be considered based on qualifications.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Knowledge Requirements:
1. Familiarity with available services and resources for families and children within the community.
2. Understanding of case management principles, advocacy, and family dynamics.
3. Proficiency in grammar, written and verbal communication, and basic mathematics.
4. Competence in computer software programs, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook), as well as web-based data entry.

Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to build supportive relationships with families from diverse cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
2. Capacity to collaborate effectively with staff and clients from varied backgrounds.
3. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of records and information.
4. Skill in utilizing a team approach to address problems or conflicts.
5. Demonstrated professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to receive and respond to feedback constructively; sound judgment in decision-making.
6. Willingness to attend relevant staff meetings and training sessions as required.
