Position Overview:
The HR Generalist I serves as a primary point of contact for basic HR-related employee inquiries. This role focuses on Benefits and Leave Administration while also managing personnel records in both paper and electronic formats. Additional responsibilities include assisting with various HR functions such as payroll, recruitment, onboarding, and maintaining the HRIS system.

Compensation:
The hourly pay for this position ranges from $22.55 to $32.02, depending on the applicant's skills and relevant experience. Eligible candidates may receive healthcare benefits, a 401K plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, vacation and sick leave, educational assistance, and holiday pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process transactions related to benefits, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and COBRA.
  • Manage and track Leaves of Absence (LOA) in accordance with FMLA and state-specific leave laws, providing guidance to employees throughout the process.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personal data, compensation, benefits, and attendance.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all personnel records.
  • Oversee the maintenance of electronic records and their integration into the HRIS system.
  • Track and file I-9 documentation.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including applicant tracking and generating recruitment reports.
  • Document and cross-train on all HR and payroll processes.
  • Support the HR team by executing assigned projects.
  • Respond to personnel-related inquiries professionally.
  • Engage in training objectives and achieve passing scores.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Relationships:
This position requires daily interaction with supervisors for guidance on personnel policies and procedures, as well as communication with employees to provide information and assistance. Occasional contact with external professionals may be necessary for employment or benefits-related documentation.

Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • An Associate's degree and two years of relevant HR experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including at least one year in human resources.

Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to assist with routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and compute percentages.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities in standardized situations.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.

Physical Demands:
This role requires effective communication through various channels and the use of office equipment and software. Employees may need to work at a workstation for extended periods.
