Job Overview

Position Summary: The Overnight Event Setup Specialist is accountable for arranging tables, chairs, and linens, while also executing various tasks related to the preparation and dismantling of event spaces, all in accordance with Pier Sixty's esteemed standards of excellence.

Compensation: Hourly $18.00

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare event spaces according to provided layouts.
  • Organize and store equipment in designated areas when not in use.
  • Assemble and disassemble dance floors, ensuring cleanliness is maintained.
  • Dress tables with linens and skirting for events.
  • Set up tables with necessary items for meetings, including water glasses, pads, pencils, and candies, unless directed otherwise.
  • Pin-spot tables for visual appeal.
  • Refresh rooms between events and during transitions.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness in guest restrooms throughout events, replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Facilitate room transitions by moving necessary materials.
  • Assist event captains and Banquet Service Managers during functions.
  • Ensure cleanliness in common areas, including galleries and lobbies, by maintaining spotless mirrors and floors.
  • Conduct daily vacuuming of the ballroom and perform deep cleaning as required.
  • Clean windows and ledges, and spot clean chairs as necessary.
  • Organize and maintain storerooms effectively.
  • Spot clean acoustic walls and movable partitions, performing deep cleaning as needed.
  • Travel to various properties or venues as required.
  • Utilize a golf cart or loading cart for transporting supplies, necessitating a valid driver’s license.
  • Support colleagues in completing tasks when necessary.
  • Carry out general cleaning duties.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions, responding to reasonable requests from management.
  • Adhere to proper timekeeping policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospitality or event setup preferred.
  • If in possession of a driver’s license, ensure safe transportation of supplies and adherence to annual background checks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Basic proficiency in English to facilitate communication.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude towards service, teamwork, and motivation to exceed expectations.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules based on business needs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform essential job functions while meeting productivity standards.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, with the ability to load and unload items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to maneuver items weighing up to 300 lbs using appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to endure extreme temperatures.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to listen and articulate clearly.
  • Capacity to stand, bend, and stoop consistently.
  • Able to work in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment such as tables and chairs.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit professional appearance and conduct when interacting with guests and team members.
  • Arrive at work in a complete uniform with excellent personal hygiene.
  • Familiarize and comply with all emergency, safety, and health protocols established by Pier Sixty.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in training manuals and the Team Member handbook.
  • Follow proper timekeeping and key sign-in/sign-out procedures as necessary.
