Overview of the Position

The State of Montana is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of an Accountant within the Business & Financial Services Division. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial oversight and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct Financial Analysis and Accounting by scrutinizing various reports and queries to detect any discrepancies in account balances that may suggest accounting inaccuracies or potential funding issues.
  2. Prepare and manage Federal Reporting obligations.
  3. Oversee Cash Control, which entails evaluating draw methods and procedures to guarantee optimal utilization of federal funds.
  4. Perform additional tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting systems with the capability to analyze and interpret data from various reports.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Ability to utilize a personal computer and standard office equipment necessary for completing essential tasks, including proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and internet applications.
  • Understanding of governmental accounting procedures.
  • Minimum qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • At least one year of relevant professional accounting experience.
