The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is actively seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist within the Office of Accounting Services. This role may be filled at either level 1 or level 2.

The GTA oversees the provision of IT infrastructure services to 89 Executive Branch agencies and offers managed network services to over 1,200 state and local government entities. Our IT infrastructure services include mainframes, servers, service desk support, end-user computing, disaster recovery, and security solutions. Managed network services encompass the state's wide and local area networks, voice communication, cabling, and conferencing services.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, the Accountant is responsible for performing reconciliations between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger, compiling and analyzing intricate financial data to ensure the production of accurate and consistent financial and operational reports. This role requires a deep understanding of complex business requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and the overall functioning of the authority concerning financial transaction processing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts reconciliations between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger.
  • Prepares and analyzes specialized, intricate financial reports.
  • Generates monthly miscellaneous retained files.
  • Compiles and verifies the accuracy and legitimacy of complex accounting transactions, often necessitating detailed analysis and resolution.
  • Applies generally accepted accounting principles in documenting and reviewing financial activities.
  • Aids in updating or implementing departmental policies and procedures that ensure compliance with audit standards. Resolves complex financial issues related to the management of multiple projects.
  • Provides customer service regarding intricate financial matters and interacts with management and external entities.
  • May compile information for or act as a liaison to external regulatory agencies and auditors.

· Executes job responsibilities with minimal supervision, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge across multiple functional areas. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures.

· Performs additional duties as assigned.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Accountant 1 Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent AND completion of a governmental accounting series for state employees AND two years of experience at a level equivalent to Paraprofessional Accountant, Senior OR

Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Accountant 2 Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution OR equivalent education or experience on a year-for-year basis AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience at a level equivalent to Accountant 1.

Preferred Qualifications:

(Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience):

  • Experience in state government accounts receivable
  • Completion of the governmental accounting series
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Teamwork within the State of Georgia
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with financial monitoring, analysis, and report creation and/or presentation

COMPENSATION/WORKER TYPE/ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Hiring Salary: *$42,000

Worker Type: Hybrid – State of Georgia Remote Work Option
