Role Overview: As a Senior Avionics Project Engineer within the New Shepard Crew Capsule team, you will leverage your extensive avionics hardware expertise and leadership capabilities to spearhead various projects related to capsule computing, power management, networking, and audio-visual systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee multiple avionics hardware development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal technical and project teams to provide updates on program status, risks, and technical deliverables.
  • Analyze and optimize project schedules to meet critical deadlines.
  • Coordinate resource support plans with production and engineering teams.
  • Generate estimates for time and resources required for tasks.
  • Maintain integrated budget forecasts and actual costs, reporting on risks, variances, and recovery strategies to program management.
  • Exhibit strong ownership and accountability for the success of avionics projects.
  • Manage dependencies, including engineering deadlines and supply chain logistics, to ensure timely delivery of end items.
  • Utilize in-depth technical knowledge and analytical skills to execute policies and strategies effectively.
  • Facilitate consensus among team members on avionics-related topics.
  • Make informed technical decisions regarding avionics projects.
  • Support avionics hardware system architecture trade studies, performance evaluations, specifications, component selection, and roadmap development.
  • Communicate development status, risks, and challenges effectively to management.
  • Act as a resource for team members, providing guidance and support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience in avionics development and project management.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical systems development in aerospace, medical, or automotive fields.
  • Strong curiosity for understanding business details and optimizing processes.
  • Experience managing leaders and large teams of indirect staff.
  • Exceptional customer focus with strong communication abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for hands-on problem-solving with a passion for spacecraft systems.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive, professional relationships.
  • Solid technical background in command and data handling system hardware design.
  • Proven experience in leading the development and testing of electronic or electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Jira.
  • Willingness to engage hands-on throughout the development and production phases.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, PMP certification, or similar credentials.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
