Role Overview:
This position is integral to the New Shepard program, a reusable suborbital rocket system engineered to transport astronauts and research payloads beyond the Kármán line, the recognized threshold of space.

Through operational reusability, New Shepard plays a crucial role in our goal of reducing the cost of space access.

Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of a multidisciplinary and dedicated team, you will serve as the primary engineering support for technical issues related to the avionics hardware and electrical subsystems of the New Shepard rocket.

  • Collaborate closely with the vehicle maintenance team to diagnose discrepancies and propose corrective measures.
  • Draft and review maintenance procedures in preparation for launches.
  • Work across various team interfaces to navigate and resolve logistical, supply chain, and resource challenges, ensuring mission-ready vehicles.
  • Maintain organization and diligence in resolving issues to completion.

Qualifications:
We seek individuals who can leverage their technical expertise and commitment to quality to enhance the safety of human spaceflight.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience.
- Over 8 years of experience in engineering support for field operations and/or diagnosing avionics systems and hardware.
- Familiarity with aircraft/spacecraft schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical load analysis.
- Strong project management skills to effectively track and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to quickly learn and utilize various software tools.
- Proven capability in data analysis and reduction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that promote positive professional relationships.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of experience in engineering support for field operations and/or diagnosing avionics systems and hardware.
- Experience in avionics system design.
- Knowledge of power system fundamentals, including Lithium batteries and silicon devices.
- Understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) communications fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
- Experience in risk assessment, management, and mitigation.
