About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Systems Integration Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for integrating, analyzing, testing, and validating new generations of avionics hardware and software platforms for various spaceflight systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, build, and integrate electrical/avionics integration hardware, software, and interconnect solutions to support our avionic systems.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate firmware with other system components.
  • Work effectively in a team environment to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Perform data interpretation, assessment, and analysis of integrated electrical/avionics systems.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Work with suppliers for Avionics HW system procurement and support from Supply Chain.
  • Work closely with design engineers to get hardware tested and integrated as it comes back from manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical or aerospace engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Laboratory experience including ESD protocols, hardware handling, and rework documentation.
  • Experience using common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power supplies, programmable loads, and general-purpose data acquisition systems.
  • Knowledge of RF components and concepts (radios, noise filters, amplifiers, RF integrated circuits, PCB layout, firmware, FPGAs, etc.).
  • Experience planning and executing tests on software defined radios (SDR), antennas, and other RF systems for spacecraft communications.
  • 6+ years of experience working with electronics or electrical/electromechanical systems, including hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: prototyping, design, integration, and/or test.
  • Understanding of safety-critical systems development (aerospace, medical, automotive).
  • 15% travel to other Blue Origin locations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for hands-on problem solving, with a passion for RF systems.
  • Circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICE.
  • MATLAB, Simulink, Python, LabVIEW.
  • Version control systems such as GIT and SVN.
  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the mechanical and electronic assembly product lifecycle.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PCB design tools such as Cadence, Altium, or Mentor Graphics.
  • Soldering, PCB rework, crimping, harness/connector assembly.
  • Test equipment, test rack design, configuration management, data acquisition.
  • Familiarity with avionics standards and guidelines, such as DO-178 and DO-254.
  • Experience working across multiple frequency bands such as UHF, L, S, X, and Ka.
