Position Overview:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in fluids and structural analysis, you will play a pivotal role in the design and validation of pressure vessels and fluid systems for advanced aerospace applications. Your expertise will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that meet stringent performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop designs for various types of pressure vessels, ensuring optimal use of vehicle space and integration.
  • Create fluid line and flexible element designs tailored for cryogenic and aerospace environments.
  • Generate detailed drawings, incorporating tolerance specifications and GD&T standards.
  • Oversee the design release process, including drawing submissions and DFM evaluations.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of spacecraft pressure vessels, both primary and secondary.
  • Integrate structural analysis with dynamic load assessments.
  • Develop and refine Finite Element Models, ensuring validation against test results.
  • Perform strength assessments and compile comprehensive analysis reports.
  • Establish test and verification protocols, along with corresponding documentation.
  • Assist in configuration development and conduct trade studies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in structural dynamics and loads prediction/validation, alongside finite element modeling.
  • Strong foundation in static and dynamic structural principles.
  • Genuine interest in spacecraft structural and environmental load development and validation.
  • Proficient in solving diverse static and dynamic structural challenges using analytical methods.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or related fields, focusing on:
    • External load assessments
    • Vibro-acoustic evaluations
    • Thermal load analysis
    • Utilization of tools such as Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct
  • Ability to foster trust and maintain professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive workplace culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in COPV and metallic pressure vessel design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of fluid line and flexible element design principles.
  • Familiarity with composite materials and their applications in structural design.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, material selection, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience in structural optimization using industry-standard codes.
  • Proficiency in ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or higher.
  • Experience in human spaceflight projects and familiarity with relevant standards.
