Job Summary

Badwater Alchemy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing and building lab- and pilot-scale reactors, as well as fluidic, thermal, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and test lab- and pilot-scale reactors, including plumbing
  • Design and build various mechanical, fluidic, thermal, and electrical test and engineering apparatus
  • Perform and/or review structural/statics analyses
  • Aid in conceptual design of various processing plant concepts
  • Maintain design history files and records with CAD drawings, BOM lists, diagrams, and miscellaneous documents
  • Assist in daily tasks of running the lab, such as running experiments, analyzing, summarizing, and presenting results, upkeep of lab, ordering supplies
  • Help in communications with external contractors and managing external contracts
  • Other tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor
  • Responsibilities may include supervision of junior staff
Requirements
  • Minimum of an MS/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field, and 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in CAD with SolidWorks, and creating engineering diagrams
  • Demonstrated experience in design for reliability, mechatronics, instrumentation, and controls as applied to fluidic systems design, preferably at industrial scales
  • Rapid prototyping, ability to use standard machine shop equipment and tooling
  • Knowledge and experience with project management practices
  • Ability to work both independently and with multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Experience in industrial water treatment, oil and gas industry, environmental engineering, or industrial equipment design a plus
