Position: Healthcare Application Specialist (Senior, Mid, Associate)

Penn Medicine seeks a Healthcare Application Specialist at the Senior, Mid, or Associate level, ideally with experience in Grand Central, Prelude, RTE, Welcome, and Cadence.

Senior Healthcare Application Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Enhance, support, and maintain applications within the UPHS health system. This includes managing projects throughout their lifecycle, meeting deadlines, and ensuring effective communication with team members.
  • Coordinate the development of new features, conduct testing, implement scheduled vendor updates, and resolve system issues.
  • Act as a resource for fellow application team members, focusing on technical and functional analysis, defining system requirements, and developing logical data models using best practices.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams and UPHS clients to provide education on system functionality and enhance user productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with change management protocols, maintain comprehensive documentation for all applications, and develop testing plans for supported applications.

Application Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to IS clients across system boundaries.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality and security of employee and patient data.
  • Assist and train internal staff, including physicians and clinical teams, in utilizing application functionalities.
  • Quickly identify, document, and resolve system functionality issues.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather and interpret build requirements for implementation projects.
  • Adhere to strict project schedules while managing multiple assignments.
  • Clearly communicate problems, issues, and potential solutions to team members and organizational leadership.
  • Research and analyze new functionalities and releases within the EMR to enhance operational processes.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of UPHS EMR applications.
  • Interpret and analyze complex workflow/system requirements to design, configure, test, and implement application solutions.
  • Maintain all documentation for assigned applications to establish standards for configuration and enhancements.
  • Execute comprehensive test plans to ensure successful outcomes for application changes and enhancements.
  • Participate in system upgrades and vendor releases to meet project objectives.
  • Work independently on complex projects, ensuring timely completion with minimal guidance.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred, particularly in healthcare IT.
  • Vendor certification is advantageous.
