Reports to: Assisted Living Administrator

Position Objective:

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for executing non-professional direct care tasks in accordance with the established care plan, under the guidance and oversight of the Administrator or LPN Nurse Manager. This role is essential in providing support for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) while fostering a positive physical, social, and psychological atmosphere for residents.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Certified Medication Aide certification in good standing, complying with all federal and state regulations.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Class C Georgia Driver's License with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
  • Successful completion of a GBI and FBI criminal history record check is mandatory.
  • Must pass a drug screening and a Tuberculosis screening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication supervision as outlined in their Service Plan.
  • Perform tasks as directed by the Nurse Manager, including monitoring vital signs and documenting observations accurately.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the Nurse Manager, Administrator, or family members promptly, and provide first aid as necessary.
  • Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents as needed.
  • Monitor medication supplies and report any discrepancies or side effects to the LPN Nurse Manager.
  • Submit daily shift reports electronically to the Nurse Manager and Administrator.
  • Adhere to medication storage and disposal protocols, ensuring compliance with professional standards.
  • Provide training to new staff on established procedures and protocols.
  • Assist residents with mobility and personal care tasks, including perineal and catheter care.
  • Prepare residents for medical appointments and transport them as assigned.
  • Participate in the activities program for residents as directed.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in assigned areas, reporting any violations to the Administrator.
  • Engage in mandatory training sessions and staff meetings to enhance job-related skills.

Personal Attributes and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Capable of following detailed instructions and problem-solving in standardized situations.
  • Physical demands include regular use of hands, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds independently or 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to perform CPR and First Aid as required.
