Job Overview

Reports to: Assisted Living Administrator

Position Objective:

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for executing non-professional direct care tasks in accordance with the established care plan, under the guidance and oversight of the Administrator or LPN Nurse Manager. This role is essential in providing support for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and fostering a positive physical, social, and psychological atmosphere for residents at the Assisted Living Center. Strong organizational and communication skills are vital, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and handle stress effectively.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification in good standing, compliant with all federal and state requirements.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Class C Georgia Driver's License with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
  • Successful completion of a GBI and FBI criminal history record check, including fingerprinting.
  • Must pass a drug screening and Tuberculosis test.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication supervision as outlined in their Service Plan.
  • Perform tasks as directed by the Nurse Manager, including monitoring vital signs and documenting changes in resident conditions.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the Nurse Manager, Administrator, or family members, and provide necessary first aid.
  • Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents as needed.
  • Monitor and manage medication supplies and report any side effects or adverse reactions to the LPN Nurse Manager.
  • Submit daily reports electronically to the Nurse Manager and Administrator.
  • Adhere to medication storage and disposal protocols, ensuring compliance with professional standards.
  • Provide training to new staff on established procedures and protocols.
  • Assist residents with personal care, including mobility support and hygiene tasks.
  • Facilitate transportation for residents to medical appointments as assigned.
  • Engage in the activities program for residents as directed.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately and promptly, including incident reports and maintenance requests.
  • Uphold safety and sanitation standards within the facility.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance job-related skills.

Personal Attributes and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Capable of following detailed instructions and solving problems in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to use hands, talk, and hear; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with heavier loads.
  • Must be able to perform CPR and First Aid when necessary.
