Role Purpose
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential non-professional direct care services under the supervision of the LPN Charge Nurse, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment for residents.
Qualifications Required
Candidates must hold a valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification in good standing, complying with all federal and Georgia state certification standards.
Proficiency in English is essential, including the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid Class C Georgia Driver's License, and have proof of vehicle insurance, adhering to company policy regarding MVR standards.
Compliance with state regulations regarding GBI and FBI criminal history checks, including fingerprinting, is mandatory.
Successful completion of drug screening and Tuberculosis testing is required.
Key Responsibilities
The CNA will assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and dental care, as well as support bowel and bladder functions, prepare residents for medical examinations, and provide necessary positioning assistance.
Engagement with residents with developmental disabilities is expected.
Accompanying residents to external medical appointments may be required.
Facilitating both group and individual activities for residents is part of the role.
Daily review of resident kardex is essential.
Providing nursing tasks as directed by the LPN Charge Nurse, including perineal care, catheter management, turning residents in bed, sponge bathing, and monitoring vital signs.
Ensuring accuracy and completeness in clinical documentation is crucial.
Report any changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse and document all necessary information regarding incidents and safety concerns.
Assist residents during meal times, ensuring proper food intake and providing after-meal care.
Maintain confidentiality and treat residents with dignity and respect, adhering to Resident's Rights policies.
Support proper admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents, inventorying personal belongings and reporting any issues with equipment.
Utilize Universal Precautions and follow established safety protocols, ensuring cleanliness in assigned areas and reporting any safety violations.
Participate in training, orientation, and staff meetings as required.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Personal Skills and Physical Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Capacity to apply common sense to follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to manage problems with limited variables in standardized situations.
- Regular use of hands and arms, including reaching, talking, and hearing.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional climbing or balancing.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and/or assist in moving up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision capabilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Transporting residents safely in vehicles is required.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is necessary.
