Role Objective
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential non-professional care to residents under the supervision of the LPN Charge Nurse, contributing to a supportive and nurturing environment for all residents.
Essential Qualifications
Must hold a valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification in good standing, complying with all federal and state regulations.
Proficient in English, with the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
Minimum age of 18 years, possessing a valid Class C Georgia Driver's License, and maintaining vehicle insurance as per company policy.
Must fulfill state requirements for background checks, including GBI and FBI, which necessitate fingerprinting.
Successful completion of drug screening and Tuberculosis testing is required.
Key Responsibilities
Assist residents with daily personal care routines including bathing, dressing, grooming, and dental hygiene, as well as bowel and bladder management, preparation for medical examinations, and mobility assistance.
Engage with residents who have developmental disabilities.
Accompany residents to external medical appointments as assigned.
Facilitate daily group and individual activities for residents.
Review resident care plans regularly.
Perform nursing tasks as directed by the LPN Charge Nurse, including personal care, monitoring vital signs, and documenting changes in resident conditions.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation.
Report any changes in resident health status to the charge nurse and document all relevant incidents and safety concerns.
Assist residents during meal times, ensuring proper food intake and providing after-meal care.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity and respect of all residents, adhering to Resident's Rights protocols.
Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents, ensuring proper inventory of personal belongings.
Adhere to Universal Precautions and established safety protocols, ensuring cleanliness in resident areas and reporting any safety violations.
Participate in training, orientation, and staff meetings as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Personal Attributes and Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Capable of following detailed instructions with common sense understanding.
- Able to manage situations with limited variables.
- Regularly required to use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
- Frequent need to sit, stand, walk, and perform physical activities.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with moving up to 75 pounds.
- Vision capabilities must include close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Must be able to transport residents safely.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is required.
