Limited travel for support with audits and internal investigations
Reporting Relationship:
The Compliance Specialist reports to the Chief Compliance Officer for all duties and responsibilities listed below and for additional tasks as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the formulation and execution of compliance programs, policies, and regulatory reporting for the organization.
2. Provide support to the Compliance Specialist and Compliance Officer in managing the organization's policy and procedure systems, including annual reviews and ongoing policy development.
3. Facilitate training initiatives to educate stakeholders on new and updated compliance programs and policies.
4. Support state, provider, and organizational audits.
5. Prepare for scheduled and unscheduled audits to ensure compliance with established standards.
6. Utilize internal controls and auditing systems to identify and rectify noncompliance issues.
7. Monitor activities influenced by regulatory requirements and industry-specific laws.
8. Implement changes to compliance processes in response to new or amended regulations.
9. Prepare and update communication materials.
10. Support internal audits related to fraud, waste, abuse, and confidentiality breaches.
11. Investigate reports of potential fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA).
12. Manage external requests regarding third-party FWA investigations.
13. Provide recommendations to the compliance committee and relevant departments to address and prevent FWA.
14. Oversee organizational training and policy on FWA awareness and prevention.
15. Investigate reports of confidentiality breaches and complete required reporting as mandated.
General Responsibilities:
Collaborate with team members and leadership on organizational objectives.
Provide project support for departmental initiatives.
Uphold the values, standards, policies, and procedures of Behavior Interventions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 2+ years of progressive experience in policy development, compliance management, or business development.
- Experience in conducting internal investigations is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Organized, creative, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrates urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
