Limited travel for support with audits and/or internal investigations

Reporting Relationship:

The Compliance Specialist reports to the Chief Compliance Officer for all duties and responsibilities outlined below and for any additional tasks assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates the creation and execution of compliance initiatives, policies, and regulatory reporting for the organization.
  • Assists the Compliance Specialist and Compliance Officer in managing the organization's policy and procedure systems, including annual reviews and ongoing policy development.
  • Contributes to training programs that educate stakeholders on new and updated compliance initiatives and policies.
  • Supports organizational audits, ensuring readiness for scheduled and unscheduled assessments to achieve full compliance with established standards.
  • Utilizes internal controls and auditing systems to identify and rectify instances of noncompliance.
  • Monitors activities influenced by regulatory requirements relevant to the organization's governance and applicable laws.
  • Implements necessary adjustments to compliance processes in response to new or revised regulations.
  • Prepares and refreshes communication materials related to compliance.
  • Engages in internal audits concerning fraud, waste, abuse, and confidentiality breaches.
  • Investigates potential reports of fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) and manages external inquiries related to third-party FWA investigations.
  • Provides recommendations to the compliance committee and relevant departments to address and prevent FWA.
  • Oversees training and policy development on FWA awareness and prevention.
  • Investigates confidentiality breach reports and ensures compliance with HIPAA reporting requirements.

General Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with team members and leadership on organizational objectives.
  • Provides project support for departmental initiatives.
  • Upholds the values, standards, policies, and procedures of Behavior Interventions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in policy development, compliance management, or business development.
  • Experience in conducting internal investigations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Creative, organized, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Demonstrates urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
