Job DescriptionPosition Overview: The Financial Operations Manager plays a crucial role in assisting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with the oversight of accounting functions at George Junior Republic and its affiliates. This encompasses areas such as budgeting, auditing, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger management, and financial reporting, all adhering to established accounting principles and internal guidelines. This role is pivotal in the development and execution of financial systems. Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the CFO.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

A Master's degree in accounting or a related field is required, or a Bachelor's degree accompanied by a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.

Licensure:

While a CPA or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Experience:

A minimum of ten years of relevant experience is required.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Dynamics Software, as well as Banking and Payroll software is essential.

Interpersonal Skills:

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate, present information clearly, and follow instructions. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for interacting with both internal teams and external clients with professionalism and discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the CFO and Senior Accounting Manager to influence the organization’s financial strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with the CFO regarding financial matters.
  • Coordinate the preparation of both internal and external financial statements.

Audit and Compliance Oversight:

  • Manage the activities of external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.

Financial Analysis:

  • Develop and track financial reporting metrics.
  • Evaluate current accounting operations, propose enhancements, and implement new procedures.
  • Establish benchmarks for measuring organizational performance.

Policy Management:

  • Supervise and revise the documented accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement control systems over accounting transactions to mitigate risks.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the generation of financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Report variances in budget to management.
  • Prepare essential financial documents, including business reports and forecasts, to assess the financial health of the organization.

Month-End Closing:

  • Assist in preparing journal entries and vouchers necessary for closing monthly trial balances.
  • Generate various financial reports for the CFO.
  • Provide guidance to Accounting Managers during month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Train Accounting Managers on month-end closing procedures.

Budget Management:

  • Guide Accounting Managers through the budgeting process.
  • Analyze actual expenditures against budget data.

Payroll Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile quarterly payroll reports with general ledger postings at the end of each quarter.

Communication:

  • Convey financial trends and issues to Accounting Managers and the CFO.

Cost Allocation:

  • Work with Accounting Managers to maintain and create allocation tables for proper budget and cost allocation.

Staff Development:

  • Provide training to Accounting Managers on processes and procedures.

Internal Controls:

  • Report internal control issues to the CFO.

Closing Procedures:

  • Lead the development of procedures for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Assist Accounting Managers in achieving desired process outcomes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the CFO.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other required meetings to support team members.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and focus on job duties to meet objectives set by the CFO.

Role Impact:

The Financial Operations Manager is integral in supporting the CFO in achieving departmental goals and will collaborate closely with Accounting Managers, ensuring effective cross-training.

Work Environment:

This position primarily operates in an office setting, although some travel may be necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
