Department Overview

The Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) team plays a pivotal role in supporting over 14,000 employees through strategic guidance, employee engagement initiatives, and essential human capital management functions. Our commitment to professionalism and confidentiality is paramount as we navigate complex employee matters.

Position Summary

The HR Business Partner serves as a strategic consultant to senior leadership within designated units. This role involves collaborating with leadership and the GTHR to identify and address HR-related needs while crafting integrated solutions that align with both unit and institutional objectives. The HR Business Partner will engage regularly with leadership, staff, and the broader employee community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Talent Acquisition Strategy: Collaborate with GTHR Talent Acquisition and unit leadership to devise and implement proactive recruitment and retention strategies.

2. Business Optimization: Work alongside unit leadership to enhance business operations while aligning with the strategic goals of the Institute.

3. Professional Development: Design and execute programs aimed at professional growth, training, team-building, and mentoring to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity.

4. Talent Development: Create plans to nurture talent within the unit and assess developmental needs; provide ongoing performance management support.

5. Compensation Consultation: Facilitate discussions with GTHR Compensation and unit leadership to evaluate and consult on compensation-related matters.

6. Workplace Engagement: Partner with management and employees to foster positive workplace relationships, enhance engagement, and improve retention.

7. HR Knowledge Sharing: Develop resources and training to enhance understanding of HR policies and procedures among employees and managers.

8. Relationship Building: Represent GTHR within assigned units, establishing connections with leadership and serving as a liaison to GTHR subject matter experts.

9. Strategic Insights: Provide insights on workplace trends and challenges to facilitate strategic discussions on people management and organizational effectiveness.

10. Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Seven to nine years of relevant experience, particularly in Employee Relations.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration; PHR or SPHR certification; experience in management consulting or senior-level management; HR generalist experience in large organizations; familiarity with talent acquisition in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This role requires the ability to build credibility with senior managers through strong business acumen and a solution-oriented approach. Proactive, strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, and experience with analytics are essential. A solid understanding of workplace laws and a history of applying HR consulting skills effectively are also required.
