Your Responsibilities

The primary duty of this role is to deliver crucial support services to the Correctional Rehabilitation section at the Oregon State Penitentiary, specifically assisting Correctional Counselors and the Correctional Rehabilitation Manager. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing general office support such as word processing, meeting scheduling, and calendar management.
  • Entering confidential data and maintaining extensive filing systems.
  • Creating various documents and managing special projects as required.
  • Coordinating with county courts, the Department of Justice, and other community stakeholders to interpret legal documents and arrange telephonic appointments.
Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Two (2) years of general clerical experience, including keyboarding and document generation; OR
  • An associate degree in any discipline; OR
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.

  • Ability to prepare various reports and correspondence while ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Experience in updating and maintaining office manuals.

  • Understanding of statutes, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a law enforcement or correctional setting.
  • Certification in CJIS/LEDS (Criminal Justice Information System/Law Enforcement Data System).

Work Environment

This position is based within the Oregon State Penitentiary and involves close interaction with adults in custody. The role may expose you to challenging situations. Prolonged computer use is expected, and you will work as part of an office team handling sensitive information that must remain confidential.

Benefits

The salary range provided is applicable for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying candidates may be eligible for an adjusted salary range reflecting an additional 6.95%.

Application Process

  • A Classification and Compensation analyst will review the successful candidate's application to determine starting wages.

Employment Requirements

The selected candidate must successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Certain felony convictions may disqualify candidates from this position due to CJIS requirements. However, having a felony record does not automatically exclude you from consideration.
