The responsibilities of the Administrative Support Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcoming, screening, and assisting patients and visitors.
  • Managing incoming mail, faxes, and other documentation.
  • Operating a multi-line telephone system.
  • Coordinating patient scheduling, registration, and check-in/check-out processes.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Conducting data management and utilizing spreadsheet applications.
  • Generating and overseeing reports.
  • Executing charge entry tasks.
  • Handling billing documentation and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Collecting co-payments, deductibles, and other patient payments at the time of service.
  • Overseeing cash handling and maintaining receipt records.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in a medical office or physician's office (preferred).
  • Familiarity with data processing and multi-line telephone systems (preferred).
  • Experience in patient registration and medical insurance processes (preferred).
  • Understanding of office protocols and equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in automated computer systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
