The Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Avionics is responsible for executing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and associated equipment, adhering to the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI, and relevant industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:


• Execute repairs and modifications on aircraft structures, components, and engines, tackling tasks of complex to extreme difficulty.


• Conduct maintenance on aircraft systems, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts.


• Utilize technical expertise in airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore operational condition.


• Provide professional guidance to resolve intricate issues by interpreting technical documents such as blueprints and manufacturer manuals.


• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of troubleshooting and repair procedures for aircraft mechanical components, as well as aircraft sheet metal and structural modifications.


• Demonstrate proficiency with specialized aircraft tools, including test equipment, torque wrenches, and other precision instruments.


• Perform maintenance on various assigned aircraft in a highly cross-utilized environment.


• Exhibit competency in multiple areas such as repair and reclamation, egress systems, avionics, propulsion, and non-destructive inspection (NDI).


• Maintain accurate records of aircraft and support equipment in accordance with Air Force procedures, utilizing appropriate information systems.


• Support transient aircraft operations and participate in quality assurance and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:


• A minimum of ten years of experience in aircraft avionics maintenance within a military context, with at least three years of experience on F-117A aircraft preferred.


• Proven experience with T-2 modifications in a testing environment is essential.


• Must possess reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to manage stressful situations while maintaining professionalism.


• Capable of assisting other personnel and performing additional duties as assigned.


• Experience in documenting aircraft logs and providing technical support to junior technicians is required.


• Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively and meet aircraft delivery schedules.


• Ability to lead teams through complex aircraft tasks and maintain accurate records.


• Knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance directives, and technical data reporting is mandatory.


• Familiarity with Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is required.


• Understanding of hazardous waste handling and disposal is essential.


• Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance as mandated.


• Maintain qualifications on the Special Certification Roster as directed.


• A valid U.S. Driver's License is required.


• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.


• A high school diploma or GED is required.

Working Conditions:


• The position may involve unique commuting and travel requirements.


• Work environments include aircraft hangars and ramps, often near operational aircraft.


• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.


• Exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and contaminants.


• May encounter hazardous situations, such as working at heights or in noisy environments.


• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required, including safety footwear and eyewear.
