Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician

The Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician will be responsible for executing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conducts maintenance, repairs, and modifications on aircraft structures, components, and engines of varying complexity.


• Inspects and repairs aircraft systems including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts.


• Utilizes technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment issues and restore operational capability.


• Provides expert technical guidance to resolve intricate problems by interpreting technical documents such as blueprints and manufacturer manuals.


• Requires comprehensive knowledge of troubleshooting and repair procedures for aircraft mechanical components, along with proficiency in aircraft sheet metal and structural modifications.


• Familiarity with specialized aircraft tools and equipment is essential, including test instruments, torque wrenches, and micrometers.


• Performs maintenance on various aircraft types in a highly versatile environment.


• Expected to demonstrate competency in areas such as repair and reclamation, avionics, propulsion, and non-destructive inspection (NDI).


• Maintains accurate records of aircraft and support equipment in accordance with Air Force procedures.


• Engages in transient aircraft support and various maintenance roles as required.

Qualifications:


• A minimum of ten years of experience in aircraft avionics maintenance within a military setting, with at least three years of experience on F-117A aircraft preferred.


• Proficient in T-2 modifications in a testing environment.


• Must exhibit reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism.


• Capable of assisting colleagues and performing additional duties as assigned.


• Must maintain accurate aircraft logs and provide mentorship to junior technicians during maintenance activities.


• Strong organizational skills are necessary to prioritize tasks effectively to meet aircraft delivery schedules.


• Occasionally required to lead teams through complex maintenance tasks.


• Must possess a solid understanding of aircraft systems and maintenance directives.


• Knowledge of Air Force supply and reporting procedures is essential.


• Must adhere to safety protocols regarding hazardous materials.


• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances as mandated.


• Must hold a valid U.S. Driver's License and demonstrate proficiency in English.


• A high school diploma or GED is required.

Working Environment:


• Position may involve unique commuting and travel requirements.


• Work will take place in aircraft hangars and on ramps, often near active equipment.


• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, is required.


• Exposure to outdoor conditions, including temperature variations and contaminants, is possible.


• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be necessary, including safety footwear and eyewear.
