The Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Egress is responsible for executing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and associated equipment, adhering to the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policies, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts repairs and modifications on aircraft structures, components, and engines of varying complexity.
- Performs maintenance on aircraft systems, including flight controls, hydraulics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Utilizes technical expertise to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore operational functionality.
- Interprets technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturer manuals to resolve complex issues.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of troubleshooting and repair procedures for aircraft mechanical components.
- Demonstrates proficiency with specialized aircraft tools and equipment.
- Engages in cross-utilization training to maintain and repair various aircraft types.
- Exhibits moderate competency in diverse areas including egress systems, avionics, propulsion, and non-destructive inspection (NDI).
- Maintains accurate records and documentation in compliance with Air Force procedures.
- Supports transient aircraft operations and assists in quality assurance tasks.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of five years of experience in aircraft egress maintenance within a military setting, with an Air Force 7 level (or equivalent) certification.
- Reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to manage stressful situations while maintaining professionalism.
- Ability to provide guidance and technical support to junior technicians during maintenance activities.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively in alignment with aircraft delivery schedules.
- Experience leading teams in complex maintenance tasks and making necessary entries in aircraft logs.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance directives, and technical data reporting.
- Familiarity with Air Force supply procedures and hazardous material handling.
- Capability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
- Possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License and proficiency in English.
- A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
Working Conditions:
- Compliance with specific commuting and travel requirements.
- Work in aircraft hangars and on ramps, often near operational aircraft.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and contaminants.
- Potential exposure to hazardous situations, including working at heights and in noisy environments.
- Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
