Role Summary

The Lead Patient Access Representative is responsible for the seamless and organized registration of all patients. This critical position ensures that patients have a positive experience while navigating the healthcare system. Acts as a primary point of contact for patients receiving both professional and hospital services at Phoenix Children's Hospital. This role encompasses specific leadership responsibilities, facilitating the communication of operational policies and procedures to the Patient Access team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Comprehends the expectations associated with the Patient Access Representative role. Steps in for team members as needed and performs all necessary functions of the Patient Access Representative.
  2. Possesses a thorough understanding of the front-end registration systems and collaborates with IT to ensure the systems are utilized accurately and efficiently, with updates made as required.
  3. Conducts training sessions for staff to ensure comprehensive understanding of the registration process, insurance verification, treatment authorization, and associated requirements. Ensures that team members are well-oriented to their job expectations to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
  4. Provides feedback regarding staff performance to the Supervisor of Admitting, enabling annual performance reviews and necessary corrective actions.
  5. Addresses issues with both internal and external clients, involving other supervisors and department managers when necessary.
  6. Maintains positive relationships with patients, insurance companies, government entities, clinical staff, colleagues, and management to foster teamwork, cooperation, and a favorable public image for Phoenix Children's Hospital.
  7. Acts as a leader and assists in managing quality and productivity initiatives.
  8. Keeps abreast of payer requirements to ensure accurate and timely billing while adhering to all federal, state, and contractual regulations.
  9. Engages in various educational programs within the unit and hospital to maintain current skills and competencies.
  10. Undertakes additional job-related duties as assigned.
