Job Overview

Southland Holdings is seeking dedicated civil construction professionals to fill the role of Project Engineer. This position involves significant responsibilities in managing and optimizing project workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, oversee, and revise comprehensive project plans and timelines to ensure efficient execution.
  • Support the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Superintendents with foundational engineering tasks, including material take-offs and work plans.
  • Establish baseline schedules and prepare documentation for project team approval.
  • Evaluate impacts on critical path and near-critical activities, providing updates to the project team.
  • Track schedule deviations and variances, assisting in the development of corrective strategies.
  • Generate and distribute schedule progress reports, trending charts, and analytical insights regularly.
  • Ensure the reliability of information within the project schedule.
  • Conduct regular reviews of schedules with project team members to incorporate accurate and timely data.
  • Verify schedule integrity and assess logic and float paths.
  • Analyze activity sequences for feasibility and constructability.
  • Review change orders for potential schedule impacts.
  • Resource-load schedules as necessary based on project requirements.
  • Perform site visits to confirm the physical progress of scheduled tasks.
  • This role may require travel to various job sites.
  • Manage project submittals and RFI documentation, draft subcontracts, and negotiate pricing to maintain budgetary constraints.
  • Utilize Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling tasks.
  • Engage in budgeting and cost forecasting activities.
  • Conduct extensive documentation, including correspondence with stakeholders.
  • Participate in progress meetings and interpret plans and specifications effectively.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders.
  • Balance office work with field activities to gain insights into construction processes.
  • Coordinate deliveries from suppliers and manage subcontractor schedules.

Field Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining daily records of installation quantities.
  • Documenting daily start and stop times for record drawings.
  • Tracking equipment usage hours.
  • Meeting with subcontractors and suppliers on-site.
  • Attending essential field meetings and capturing progress photos.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field, with 3 to 5 years of scheduling experience in pipeline or concrete projects.
  • Strong computer skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Familiarity with industrial construction processes.
  • Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings accurately.
  • Knowledge of contract principles and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Understanding of construction logic and sequencing for complex projects.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is required.
