Position Overview

This role necessitates a professional with a strong background in leading project teams to develop and prepare construction documentation for various civil engineering initiatives, adhering to local regulations and standards. Responsibilities include coordinating civil design with land use planning and surveying elements. A technical foundation in the design of roadways, sanitary systems, water supply, and stormwater management, along with current water quality standards, is essential. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing the civil department, requiring a proactive individual to network and cultivate client relationships while overseeing the financial health of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and coordinating small to medium-sized civil engineering projects;
  • Facilitating communication with firm leadership to support firm growth;
  • Mentoring civil design personnel, assisting them in achieving their professional objectives;
  • Ensuring the accuracy and thoroughness of all civil designs through rigorous quality assurance and quality control processes;
  • Building and maintaining client relationships to ensure satisfaction and meet project goals;
  • Engaging in marketing efforts, proposal writing, project estimation, and nurturing key client relationships;
  • Participating in industry organizations and events;
  • Providing training and guidance to new civil engineering staff;
  • Scheduling team members to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; additional licenses in other states are advantageous;
  • 7-10 years of engineering experience with a focus on site civil design, including roadway, traffic, stormwater, irrigation design, and utility relocations;
  • Comprehensive understanding of civil design and construction standards, as well as environmental considerations;
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget;
  • Established skills in developing relationships with municipal, county, and state agencies for civil projects;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology modeling, and Microsoft software applications (including MS Project);
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management;
  • Experience in project estimation and cost management methodologies.
