Job Overview

Southland Holdings is seeking dedicated civil construction professionals to fill the role of Project Engineer. This position involves a variety of responsibilities essential for the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, oversee, and revise comprehensive project schedules to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Support the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Superintendents with foundational engineering tasks, including material take-offs and work plans.
  • Prepare baseline schedules and documentation for project team approval.
  • Evaluate impacts on critical path and near-critical activities, providing reports to the project team.
  • Monitor deviations in schedules and assist in developing corrective strategies.
  • Generate and present schedule progress reports, trending charts, and analyses regularly.
  • Ensure the reliability of information within the project schedule.
  • Conduct regular reviews of schedules with project team members to incorporate accurate data.
  • Verify schedule integrity and assess logic and float paths.
  • Analyze activity sequences for constructability.
  • Review change orders for potential schedule impacts.
  • Resource load schedules as necessary.
  • Perform site visits to confirm the physical progress of scheduled tasks.
  • This role requires travel to various job sites.
  • Manage project submittals and RFIs, draft subcontracts, and negotiate contract pricing.
  • Utilize Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling.
  • Assist with budgeting and cost forecasting.
  • Engage in extensive documentation, including correspondence with owners and engineers.
  • Participate in progress meetings.
  • Interpret plans and specifications accurately.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and electronically, with stakeholders.
  • Balance office work with field activities to understand construction processes.
  • Coordinate deliveries from suppliers and manage subcontractor schedules.

Field Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain daily records of installation quantities.
  • Document daily start and stop times for record drawings.
  • Track equipment usage hours.
  • Meet with subcontractors and suppliers on-site.
  • Attend necessary field meetings and capture progress photos.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field, with 3 to 5 years of scheduling experience in pipeline or concrete projects.
  • Strong computer skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Familiarity with industrial construction processes.
  • Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings.
  • Knowledge of contract principles and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork orientation.
  • Understanding of construction logic and sequencing for complex projects.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is required.
