YAI is seeking a qualified Behavioral Intervention Specialist to support our locations in various regions.

The Behavioral Intervention Specialist position combines the roles of a Direct Support Professional and a behavioral support specialist. Under the supervision of a senior specialist, the Behavioral Intervention Specialist will support in educating team members on treatment plans and behavior support plans, assisting with clinical assessments, ensuring data collection, and providing direct feedback and education to all team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care services as needed, including counseling, implementation of treatment plans, training in ADL skills, assistance with personal care, medical, dietary, social, sexual, recreational, financial, and habilitative needs.
  • Train staff on clinical interventions, communicate clinical rationales, provide feedback, and role model appropriate tone and behavior.
  • Develop written, individualized habilitative plans in accordance with the agency philosophy, as determined by individual need.
  • Conduct assessments, both behavioral and habilitative, via formal and informal means, under the supervision of a senior specialist.
  • Design and maintain effective data collection systems to monitor progress.
  • Oversee the completion of required paperwork, including monthlies, Person-Centered materials, and ensure that all pertinent information is included on psychiatric anecdotal.
  • Provide therapeutically documented supervision to ensure and protect the individual's health/safety and well-being.
  • Train new staff on Level 1 competencies.
  • Resource to staff by providing clinical support in the absence of a senior specialist.
  • Lead trainer of weekend staff on clinical interventions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Human Services is strongly preferred or enrolled in a 4-year degree in Psychology or Human Services field.
  • At least one year of experience working within the field of I/DD as a Direct Support Professional.
