Field Support Technician

The primary role of the Field Services Engineer is to deliver exceptional service and support for the sophisticated products offered by Resource Employment Solutions. This includes various systems such as drives, PLCs, SCADA packages, and discrete loop controllers. Due to our emphasis on local customer engagement, travel requirements are significantly reduced compared to similar positions in the industry, with local or remote work anticipated up to 60% of the time and overnight travel less than 25%.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a consistently positive customer experience, reflected in customer requests for your specific services and high ratings on feedback surveys.
  • Perform field service operations, including calibration, repairs, and other essential tasks to support the lifecycle of drives and control systems.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for various systems, including discrete controllers, PLCs, and SCADA systems, both in the workshop and at client locations.
  • Manage smaller engineering projects effectively.
  • Lead training sessions for clients in your area of expertise.
  • Be accountable for assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in shared on-call duties during weekends (approximately 5-6 times per year).
  • Contribute positively to the overall financial performance of the organization.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Familiarity with highly technical products and field service engineering is essential. Knowledge of mechanical components in control systems is advantageous. Strong communication skills (listening, questioning, speaking) and time management skills are crucial. The ideal candidate should have familiarity with technologies such as Drives and Control Systems, particularly Parker Hannifin drives, and communication protocols like DeviceNet and Modbus. Expertise in one of the following areas is preferred: PLC Control (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), AC/DC Drive Control, or SCADA systems. Experience with web handling applications, such as paper converting or plastic extrusion, is a plus.
  • Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required for this position.
  • Technology/Equipment: Proficiency in computing and software skills, including Microsoft CRM, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and AutoCAD.
