S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Field Service Technician to become a vital part of our Field Exploration team. Join us at S&ME.

** This role will involve travel across various locations. **

As a Field Service Technician, your responsibilities will include conducting preventive maintenance, as well as performing both routine and intricate repairs on our fleet of medium-duty support vehicles and heavy-duty transport trucks, geotechnical drilling rigs, and other related machinery.

Your Daily Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the maintenance of the workshop, contributing to the design and development of tools and equipment, and occasionally engaging in welding tasks for drilling rigs and machinery.
  • Addressing electrical systems specific to geotechnical drilling rigs and repairing hydraulic components, including hoses, pumps, and cylinders.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel engines.

This position requires a proactive individual with a robust mechanical skill set and experience in the upkeep and repair of heavy machinery.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Vocational training in mechanics is advantageous
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a mechanic for gasoline and diesel engines
  • Certification as an auto/diesel mechanic
  • Strong problem-solving abilities

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

You should be prepared to meet the physical demands of this role while utilizing Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, which includes:

  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Navigating rough and uneven terrain
  • Standing for up to 8 hours a day, with occasional 12-hour shifts
  • Regularly lifting and carrying weights of 40-50 lbs
  • Traveling for assignments, which may require overnight stays
  • Working outside of standard business hours when necessary
