About the Role

LMI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Estimator to support the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (OASD(Sustainment)) in its mission to ensure compliance and governance for the delivery and sustainment of critical capabilities to U.S. Service Members and our allies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, cost estimation, and logistics, with experience working with the Department of Defense. They will be responsible for conducting financial analysis of existing program costs, providing financial expertise and guidance to support the Program Office, and developing cost baselines and guidance on the estimation of aircraft operating and support costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of existing program costs to inform decision-making.
  • Provide expert financial guidance and support to the Program Office, including expertise on working capital fund appropriations and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate cost baselines and provide guidance on the estimation of aircraft operating and support costs.
  • Assess technical data, government data rights, and industry assertions on data rights to ensure compliance and governance.
  • Compute decision-making metrics for comparisons of all alternatives, including net life cycle savings, net present value, and payback period.
  • Provide estimates and input to support the Program Office Memorandum (POM) cycle.
  • Ensure financial transparency for the customer and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, management, finance, math, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Previous work with the Department of Defense is highly desirable.
  • Experience with the PPB&E process and working capital funds is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience in cost estimation, logistics, and financial analysis.
  • Relevant cost estimating certifications with ICEAA or AACE is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with ACEIT and Crystal Ball software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality.
