Job Title - Community Education Child Care Specialist

Supervisor: Community Education Program Coordinator, Community Education Site Manager

Job Objectives:
  • To execute childcare initiatives at the assigned location.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least 19 years of age.
  3. Ability to fulfill the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
  4. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  6. Utilize technology for communication, data management, and the production/submission of necessary reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
  7. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to carry out job responsibilities.
  8. Ability to maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
  9. Any alternatives to the above qualifications as required by the Board.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Exhibits support for the educational system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
  2. Implements childcare activities as instructed.
  3. Oversees assigned students to achieve program objectives.
  4. Communicates information regarding after-school and community education programs with parents, community organizations, school staff, and administrators as directed.
  5. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the program facility.
  6. Leads program activities.
  7. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in compliance with state and federal laws.
  8. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  9. Responds to inquiries, constructive feedback, concerns, and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
  10. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence promptly and accurately.
  11. Properly cares for the equipment and material resources of the educational system.
  12. Utilizes collaboration skills to function effectively as a team member.
  13. Adheres to educational system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
  14. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  15. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed in accordance with the Board's policy on personnel evaluation.
