Job Title - CNP Food Service Specialist

Supervisor: CNP Manager, CNP Assistant Manager, CNP Area Specialist, Principal, CNP Supervisor, and CNP Director

Job Objectives:
  • To efficiently execute the local school Child Nutrition Program (CNP).
  • To deliver food preparation services for the educational institutions within the region.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to fulfill the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under relevant child protection legislation.
  3. Proficiency in operating and maintaining kitchen equipment essential for job duties.
  4. Capability to follow verbal and written instructions and demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Adherence to Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
  6. Competence in utilizing technology as required for job functions.
  7. Possession and maintenance of necessary health certifications, including tuberculin skin test results.
  8. Physical strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
  9. Ability to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
  10. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  11. Punctuality and regular attendance are essential.
  12. Any alternative qualifications as required by the Board.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Demonstrates support for the educational system, its vision, goals, and priorities.
  2. Assists in the preparation and service of meals according to the established menu and supervisory instructions.
  3. Engages in food storage, inventory management, equipment cleaning, assembly, disassembly, and related sanitation tasks as assigned.
  4. Conducts duties in a courteous and professional manner.
  5. Operates food service equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  6. Participates in job rotation or assists in various CNP activities as assigned, including but not limited to cashiering, serving, backup, dish machine operation, food preparation, and kitchen cleanup.
  7. Maintains professional attire and hygiene suitable for food service roles (uniform, hair net/hat, closed-toe shoes with non-skid soles, etc.).
  8. Observes proper safety protocols in the kitchen and other work environments.
  9. Collaborates with other staff members to uphold high standards in the child nutrition program.
  10. Follows written and verbal instructions and communicates effectively with others (CNP staff, vendors, school personnel, students, parents, community members).
  11. Engages in and promotes in-service training, conferences, and continuing education programs for personal and professional development.
  12. Exhibits professional ethics and effective work habits.
  13. Maintains confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters in compliance with applicable laws.
  14. Shows initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in assigned responsibilities.
  15. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
  16. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence promptly and accurately.
  17. Properly cares for the equipment and material resources of the educational institution.
  18. Utilizes effective collaboration skills to function as a productive team member.
  19. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and relevant laws.
  20. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  21. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Employment Terms: As established by the Board and applicable state law.

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed in accordance with the Board's evaluation policy for personnel.
