JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Academic Intervention Specialist will engage deeply with students to enhance their reading and mathematics competencies. This role involves evaluating student requirements and delivering resources and support systems for all students referred for assistance.

This position is grant funded and is not eligible for tenure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide guidance and serve as a consultant to school personnel in creating and sustaining a student assistance program.
  • Maintain comprehensive monthly records for each student and document the support provided.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze assessment data.
  • Implement effective instructional strategies and evidence-based intervention materials to address the learning needs of students.
  • Demonstrate intervention strategies in the classroom to both general and special education teachers.
  • Evaluate existing student performance data and administer assessments as necessary to monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate effectively with classroom educators and school administration.
  • Assist in providing training for school staff and parents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary Education, Reading, Literacy, Math, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in elementary education.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in leadership roles (e.g., conducting workshops, presenting to groups, participating in special projects, and developing new instructional materials).
  • Exceptional writing and public speaking skills, along with strong organizational and planning capabilities, and the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Knowledgeable in best practices and evidence-based instructional methods and strategies.
