**Job Summary:**

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Collaborate with IEP Teams:**
  • Participate in the development of students' individual education plans (IEPs) as a member of the IEP team.
  • Implement students' IEPs, ensuring that all educational goals and objectives are met.
  • **Curriculum Development:**
  • Develop and implement curriculum that addresses the unique needs of special needs students.
  • **Instructional Strategies:**
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies and techniques consistent with the individual needs and capabilities of students.
  • **Technology Integration:**
  • Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction, facilitate student learning, and manage data.
  • **Communication and Collaboration:**
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and involved in the educational process.
  • **Professional Growth and Development:**
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and development, staying current with best practices and research in special education.

Requirements:

  • **Education:**
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • **Certification:**
  • Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
  • **Skills:**
  • Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
  • Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of assigned students.
  • Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
  • Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and assist with student toileting and specific hygiene needs.
  • Ability to transfer students, feed students, and provide physical intervention when required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
