POSITION TITLE: Migrant Sheltering Case Manager

DEPARTMENT: Refugee Services

REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Refugee Services

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time (40 hours/week), including evening and night shifts, and one weekend day per week

SALARY: $22.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Migrant Shelter Case Manager plays a crucial role in supporting asylum seekers within a transitional shelter environment. This position involves managing a variety of responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter, including:

  • Conducting client intake and orientation, ensuring newcomers are informed about available resources and feel welcomed.
  • Providing essential case management services aimed at facilitating stable housing for clients within a targeted timeframe.
  • Collaborating with volunteers and other service providers to enhance client support and service delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Developing individualized self-sufficiency plans that cater to each client's unique circumstances and goals.
  • Coordinating shelter-related activities, including meal distribution and resource organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, particularly in response to public health concerns.
  • Monitoring the shelter environment to maintain safety and enforce rules.
  • Assisting in training new staff and volunteers on shelter policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred: Associate's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, particularly Hispanic/Latino families and migrants.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to assist migrant families.
  • Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.
  • Bilingual skills are advantageous.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of background checks and health screenings.
