Pay Rate: $29.87/hour

Position Overview:

Jewish Family Service offers extensive immigration legal services alongside humanitarian and respite shelter for asylum seekers released into the United States. Collaborating with the San Diego Rapid Response Network, JFS provides case management, travel assistance, nutrition services, medical screenings, and financial support for migrant families.

The Site Coordinator plays a crucial role in the team, ensuring the smooth operation of the shelter and addressing the needs of both the operation and its guests. This position involves maintaining effective communication with staff across all shelter locations and adapting to evolving processes. The Site Coordinator is responsible for problem-solving and directing staff, overseeing the daily operations of the Travel Center, and may provide coverage at other shelter locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations of the Travel Center and/or non-congregate shelter site
  • Facilitate coordination between various shelter operations
  • Manage guest transfers between sites
  • Welcome guests, provide orientation, meals/snacks, and maintain communication regarding onward travel
  • Act as the first point of contact during emergencies and follow up as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with emergency management procedures
  • Monitor communication channels for critical operational updates
  • Deliver shelter services with a trauma-informed approach
  • Utilize client management software for reporting and updates
  • Collaborate with external partners including hotel management and medical providers
  • Participate in leadership meetings and support the development of children’s programming
  • Mentor and supervise staff, ensuring professional development and adherence to policies
  • Maintain records for financial processes and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for guests and staff
  • Adapt to changing operational procedures as necessary
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience with direct staff supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of case management and job skills training
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask and innovate solutions
  • Experience in customer service and crisis intervention
  • Understanding of immigrant populations and trauma-informed care
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Commitment to excellence and continuous self-improvement
Additional Information:

Upon hire, candidates must provide self-attestation of immunizations against communicable diseases and possess a valid CA Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and maintaining focus in varied environmental conditions.
