Position Summary:

The Art Program Leader plays a crucial role in the management and presentation of art exhibitions. Under general supervision, this position involves preparing exhibition spaces, handling artwork, and ensuring the overall maintenance of gallery facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare exhibition areas by performing tasks such as patching, painting, and cleaning.
  • Handle various forms of artwork safely, including paintings, sculptures, and multimedia pieces.
  • Install artworks according to layouts provided by curators or artists, which may require the use of ladders and scaffolding.
  • Adjust lighting for exhibitions, including moving spotlights and replacing bulbs as necessary.
  • Prepare and install signage and labels for gallery displays.
  • Operate vehicles to transport artwork safely.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of artworks, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
  • Organize and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Fabricate objects on-site using hand and power tools.
  • Ensure galleries are clean and presentable on a daily basis.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling events and rentals.
Required Skills:

  • Enrollment in a college or university program in Arts or a related field is preferred.
