Position: Art Program Leader

Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services – MOAH

Hourly Range: $20.99

Classification: Temporary

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Role Summary:

The Art Program Leader is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of galleries for exhibitions, including the safe handling and transportation of various artworks. This role supports the upkeep of facilities and assists in organizing events within the City of Lancaster's cultural venues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare exhibition spaces, which includes patching, painting, and cleaning gallery walls.
  • Handle a diverse range of artworks, ensuring safe and knowledgeable practices.
  • Install artworks according to layouts provided by curators or artists, which may require the use of ladders and scaffolding.
  • Adjust lighting for exhibitions, including the movement of spotlights and replacement of bulbs.
  • Prepare and install signage and labels for galleries.
  • Operate vehicles for the retrieval and delivery of artworks.
  • Load and unload artworks with proper handling techniques.
  • Prepare artworks for storage and maintain inventory of supplies and tools.
  • Fabricate objects on-site using hand and power tools.
  • Ensure galleries are clean and presentable on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of events and rentals.
