Job Overview

Position: Art Program Leader

Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services – MOAH

Hourly Rate: $20.99

Classification: Temporary

Employment Status: Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Role Summary:

The Art Program Leader will operate under general supervision to prepare exhibition spaces, manage artwork logistics, and ensure the maintenance of facilities associated with the City of Lancaster's Museum of Art and History, including MOAH: CEDAR, Western Hotel Museum, and the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare exhibition walls and spaces for installations, which includes patching, painting, and cleaning.
  • Handle various types of artwork, ensuring safe and knowledgeable practices for both framed and unframed pieces.
  • Install artworks according to layouts provided by curators or artists, which may require the use of ladders and scaffolding.
  • Adjust lighting for exhibitions, including moving spotlights and replacing bulbs as necessary.
  • Prepare and install signage and labels for galleries.
  • Operate vehicles to transport artwork safely.
  • Load and unload artworks, adhering to safe handling techniques.
  • Prepare artworks for storage and oversee supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Fabricate objects on-site using hand and power tools safely.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of galleries on a daily basis.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling events and rentals.
Required Skills:
